Encontrar a opacidade no vidro fazendo vĂĄrias experiĂȘncias que me levassem a idealizar
Arte e CiĂȘncia do Vidro.
motivou-me fortemente continuar a aprofundar o mundo da arte e do conhecimento do vidro.

This project came about as a challenge in the combination of two areas that have always interested me. Science in my professional life, and art, that I have always sought to embrace by simultaneously developing works in painting and ceramics. Glass has always been a passion to me. But the beauty of glass, its transparency and lightness have always fascinated me, also being a mystery. Specific characteristics that involve me and bring about peace! Now I have had the opportunity to approach this material, to learn several aspects that relate to it and be fascinated with creating works that I never thought I would be able to produce. I have therefore embraced a new challenge applying for the Masterâs program in Faculdade de CiĂȘncias e Tecnologia, in Universidade Nova de Lisboa. I have started tackling the Artistic and Scientific aspects of this Masterâs program, and, day by day, I have become more receptive to this language and to the intertwining ways of these new roads. I was particularly interested in light and shadows, the transparency and contrast with opacity. Pursuing opacity in glass through several experiments, synthesizing glasses of different compositions, and further comparing them with other transparent glasses, has been the first objective of this project. Focusing on this goal I have developed studio work, creating a number of pieces that I am presenting in exhibition as an integral part of this Master Glass Art and Science. Difficult and/or controversial issues are addressed with no presumption of finding an answer. Nevertheless, the research undertaken has been very enriching to me and it strongly motivates me to continue exploring the world of art while broadening my knowledge of glass. âArt is meant to disturb. Science reassuresâ Braque, Georges âEven the old masters know that beauty can be disturbing, and disturbing is beautifulâ Fujishiro, Shige
