Resumo(s)
Banco de Cape Verde (BCV) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Cape Verde whose mission
is to ensure macro-financial stability for sustainable and inclusive economic growth and social
development. Consequently, it supports micro, small, and medium enterprises through
microcredits disbursed granted by microfinance institutions. We conducted interviews with
microcredit stakeholders in the country and developed a qualitative analysis of the ecosystem.
We analysed the microcredit provision of one Cape Verdean institution and illustrated trends
and evolution in fostering financial inclusion through microcredits disbursed in 2012 and 2019.
The result shows an increase in microcredits allocated to females and there is evidence of the
diversification of the activities engaged by the recipients.
The individual part assesses what are the eligibility criteria to benefit from a microloan in Cape
Verde and how these criteria differ from institution to institution and country to country.
Therefore, it is made a descriptive analysis and a comparison between three microcredit
institutions in Cape Verde and two financial institutions out of Cape Verde, regarding the
target, socioeconomic and geographical characteristics, personality traits, business idea and its
viability, collateral, reimbursement, reinforcement credits and documents required.
