Resumo(s)
Analysing the answers provided in the field interviews conducted with several of the MFIs
operating in Cape Verde, a pattern emerged: the existing funding mechanisms were seen by
microlenders as a limiting factor for the growth of the sector. Consequently, a further
exploration on the existing funding mechanisms and their possible future developments is
warranted. Different funding possibilities were found to have been created after COVID-19
with the potential to improve liquidity constraints if not for the restrictive access requirements.
A shift in the sector priority from funding availability towards fund suitability is recommended.
