A problemática principal desta dissertação consiste em saber como podemos discutir sobre a produção dos redatores Affonso Vargas e Esteves Lisboa no periódico A Arte Musical na primeira década do século XX. Estruturalmente, os assuntos são os analisados nas fontes primárias: situação cultural, social, filosófica e política, feminismo e progresso cultural no nosso país; as atividades do Teatro de São Carlos e perspetivas sobre ópera, compositores e a arte do canto lírico. Através da análise dos temas e conteúdos dos seus artigos, conclui-se que, tal como sucede com outros agentes musicais republicanos, os escritores estudados incluem na sua agenda preocupações ao nível da educação artística de profissionais e público em geral.
The main problem of this dissertation is to know how we can discuss the production of the writers Affonso Vargas and Esteves Lisboa in the periodical A Arte Musical in the first decade of the 20th century. Structurally, the subjects are analyzed in the primary sources: cultural, social, philosophical, and political situation, feminism and cultural progress in our country; the activities of Teatro de São Carlos and perspectives on opera, composers and the art of lyrical singing. Through the analysis of the themes and contents of their articles, it is concluded that, as with other republican musical agents, the studied writers include in their agenda concerns in terms of artistic education for professionals and the general public.
