Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC’s) are a centralized response to an increasingly digital world. This Work Project aims to shed some light into the place of CBDCs within the digital assets world, to present the most likely models to be adopted by the ECB, and its impact on European commercial banks. It was conducted within a team and therefore, for a complete understanding of its topics, and the report in its totality, should be read together with the Work Projects of colleagues Tomás Carnall, and Diogo Salgueiro, also available at the Nova SBE repository. This report aims to dive deeper into the different models that are being considered by the ECB, and to understand how it affects citizens and the financial ecosystem.
