Propus-me a realizar o meu estágio na Companhia João Garcia Miguel fundada há 19 anos, em 2002. Trata-se de uma companhia de criação artística contemporânea, de pesquisa e desenvolvimento artístico e criativo em artes performativas, exploradas no teatro. No percurso da companhia, a procura por uma diferença e singularidade, acompanham cada criação. A companhia busca uma diferença e singularidade nas suas peças, tendo sido, por várias vezes, distinguida e premiada. A Cia JGM é uma estrutura financiada pelo Governo de Portugal; Secretaria de Estado da Cultura e Direção Geral das Artes. Em relação ao título da minha proposta, O Papel e a Importância do Assistente de Encenação, deve-se ao facto de eu me ter proposto a analisar a anatomia do trabalho que é feito pela companhia no seu quotidiano e de esta estar ligada à performance e teatro. O meu objetivo era acompanhar o processo de criação e apreender, a partir de recursos internos, formas de desenvolver o trabalho performativo, assim como entender de que forma as tarefas de assistência de encenação se aproximam ou afastam do ato de coreografar uma peça de dança.
I proposed to do my internship at Companhia João Garcia Miguel, founded 19 years ago, in 2002. It is a company dedicated to contemporary artistic creation, research and artistic and creative development in performing arts, explored in theater. In the company’s journey, the search for difference and uniqueness accompany each creation. The company seeks a difference and uniqueness in its pieces, having been, on several occasions, distinguished and awarded. Cia JGM is a structure financed by the Government of Portugal; State Secretariat for Culture and General Directorate of Arts. Regarding the title of my proposal, The Role and Importance of the Directing Assistant, it is due to the fact that I proposed to analyze the anatomy of the work that is done by the company in its daily life and that this is linked to performance and theater. My objective was to follow the creation process and learn, from internal resources, ways to develop the performative work, as well as understand how the staging assistance tasks resemble or differ from the act of choreographing a dance piece.
