The internship project is performed at a Dutch Bank in the role of Data Scientist Intern in the Innovation
Lab located in The Hague, the Netherlands. I will support the creation of a Python based text analysis
tool that gathers data on clients and monitors their performance in terms of Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) related topics and activities. The tool will be used to support customer due
diligence processes as well as review analysis purposes for clients to compare CSR scores with peers.
This will help NIBC bank to obtain better insights into CSR performance and activities of their clients
and potential clients. This results in the mitigation of risks associated with non-compliant CSR levels.
An important objective for the development of the CSR tool is upcoming (EU) regulation to increase
transparency in third-party suppliers. This would increase the relevance of the CSR text analysis tool
enormously. NIBC Bank wants to be the front-runner within sustainability in the financial sector. The
internship will last for a period of six months (September 2020 till February 2021) and will take place
in the Netherlands.
