Climate change has conducted organisations to look for various means to incite investments in planet-friendly initiatives generating new “green” instruments, labeled Green bonds. Based on factual data of Bloomberg databases identifying green bonds emitted from 2013 until March 2021 and applying empirical analyses, the impact of various characteristics and events was studied to determine the behavior of cumulative abnormal returns (CARs)on green bonds issuance. CARs proved to be positive around announce dates. In addition, the study concludes on the influence of bonds, firms and ESG characteristics, country and industry specifics and major events on CARs.
