The aim of this work was to understand which tools managers use to keep their employees motivated within the context of Mozambican hospitality companies. Findings revealed that there is a consensus regarding the importance of trainings and education, as well as the one of monetary rewards and of acknowledging people, which is only partially aligned with what previous research identified as key motivators for hospitality employees. This study contributes to literature about employee motivation, as it offers a management perspective and a context of difficulty in business due to the pandemic and the travel restrictions that it causes.
