Resumo(s)
This paper explores the barriers German automotive companies face in innovation and the impact of environmental, social, and governmental sustainability on innovation management. The results from 24 qualitative interviews show that culture, leadership, incentives, vision, and risk acceptance are critical factors and thus potential barriers to fostering innovation in the German automotive industry. Furthermore, the legal and societal demand for sustainability leads to considerable complexity and a new dimension of key performance indicators that still need to be introduced in research and development as the functional owner of innovation in automotive companies.
