This paper, “Leader Identity and Leadership Perception: Influences of Gender and Education”, examines the relationship between gender, leader identity and leadership perception within young adults, to check for gender stereotypes. Additionally, the moderating effect of leadership courses and level of education is analyzed. Regarding the latter, no significant effect was found. However, leadership courses showed a negative effect. This finding should be considered by tertiary education institutions to make future offerings better fitting. Moreover, the findings suggest that gender stereotypes are not significant today. This indicates societal change that may become stronger once today’s young adults takeover leadership positions.
