This work “Key challenges and possible solutions in the electric vehicle battery recycling process from an automotive manufacturer’s perspective” investigates the electric vehicle battery recycling process design. A framework is developed highlighting key challenges in the process design and possible solutions to overcome them. Qualitative analysis is used to identify these key challenges, which are divided into product-, resource-, and economic constraints as well as the possible solutions, which are based on internal-and external solutions. The framework indicates to internalize certain aspects of the battery recycling process to mitigate risks of getting too dependent on external partners.
