Since the birth of Bitcoin in 2008, the technology on which it operates, blockchain, has been gaining popularity. This has resulted in a wide variety of use cases, not only financial-related, that are constantly emerging. Although its use in higher education is still at a very early stage, after reviewing the literature on the subject some cases of implementation on campuses were found, the main uses being the acceptance of payments in Bitcoin and the digital storage and issuance of certificates. The objective of this paper is to serve as a basis for a potential future project of blockchain implementation at Nova SBE. After presenting the background of blockchain in higher education, an analysis of the options that the University has is conducted, evaluating the implications of two potential applications and providing recommendations for this potential implementation. Lastly, an implementation road map is proposed, with the aim of making Nova SBE a leading and pioneering university in the field.
