The general objective of this research is to assess whether today we can speak of a mediation of the sensitive, in particular, in the city. To confirm this hypothesis, the following operational objectives were identified: a) review of the Kantian aesthetic enterprise, b) reflection on the sensitive in the computational device, activating the notions of "post-digital" and "new aesthetics", c) review of the relationship between media and the city, in light of the conceptual frameworks of Walter Benjamin, Marshall McLuhan, Friedrich Kittler and Lev Manovich, d) survey and analysis of configurations of possible mediations of the sensitive in Aveiro, Águeda and Viseu and e) proposal of the media-city as a possible post-digital “techno-sensorium”. We have reflected on the intelligence proclaimed by the municipal strategies of the three case studies, with the aim of extending it to some of the Kantian aesthetic proposals whose contribution to the reception and reconciliation of antagonisms we sought to recover. More than a proposal to indicate a better or worse path in the construction of the city, our approach aimed at rediscovering its plurality, seeking clues for an aesthetic participation of the citizen in the diverse worlds that compose it. The dissertation demonstrates how the computational device, in which the other media converge, being repurposed, signals a new management of the sensitive/unintelligible passages. It is confirmed that it is at the interface level that the computer constitutes itself as a media, making what it simulates sensibly credible. It is explained that what is at stake is not a liquefaction of the real in the informational logic, but outcrops of different regimes of the real that demand the exercise of the entire perceptive system of the subject. If at first the interface model adopted by the computer was the visual display, this dissertation was oriented towards the proposal that the city, today, also constitutes an interface in experimentation by computational configurations. Recovering a certain program for the exercise of sensitive life enhanced by the computer and proposed by Marshall McLuhan, examples were pointed out demonstrating that, in addition to “efficient intelligence”, a new relationship is at play between our senses, in the experience of the city converged with the computational device (media-city). The possible exemplary value of art was also demonstrated, in the experimentation of urban environments that, in addition to stimulating sensitivity, promote an awareness of the dynamism of human faculties. The relevance of this study is linked to a deepening of the logic of the “smart city”, approaching the media-city outside the techno-positivist (the city as the pinnacle of progress), apocalyptic/romantic (the city as an end or hell) and anthropocentric (the sentient city) frameworks
