The first chapter aims to introduce Ajuda de Mãe, a non-profit organization that intents to support pregnant women and young mothers. Through surveys and interviews, it was possible to define the target beneficiaries, which are generally in a vulnerable situation that include having an unplanned pregnancy, a low-education level and being a foreigner. Using secondary data, it was possible to map the activities of Ajuda de Mãe into the four main segments: Assistance, Accommodation, Training and Reintegration. Finally, by analysing the financial statements it was possible to identify that the dependency on subsidies endangers the sustainability of the organization.
