Odete Maria Semedo apresenta no conjunto da sua obra Histórias e passadas que ouvi contar em dois volumes, Sonéá & Djênia, em que explora, a partir da ficção, as estórias populares e as tradições orais bissau-guineenses. Nessa obra trata a questão da tradição e da modernidade, que através dos personagens e dos espaços revelam os significados do recontar a história bissau-guineense sob diferentes ângulos culturais e identitários que marcam as motivações da construção do espaço-nação. O presente trabalho constitui uma análise crítica da obra, sobretudo no que tange à tradição oral nos referidos contos, onde procuramos entender quais são as funções, significados e simbologias de alguns aspectos culturais retratados do nosso povo bissau-guineense.
Odete Maria Semedo’s narratives, Histórias e passadas que ouvi contar, in two volumes, I/II Sonéá & Djênia, expand on oral Bissau-Guinean traditions. The work is about tradition and modernity which, through the characters and spaces, reveals the meanings of telling the Bissau-Guinean history through different cultural approaches and identities marking the motivations for the construction of the nation-space. The present work is a critical analysis of these stories. We aim at understanding the functions, meanings and symbolism presenting some of the cultural aspects of the Bissau-Guinean people.
