This internship report presents the diagnosis and risk evaluation done in the storage areas of the Oceanographic Museum D. Carlos I of the Aquarium Vasco da Gama, located in Dafundo, Oeiras. The absence of a preventive conservation plan was a determinant factor to the choice and appropriateness of the subject here presented were the main goal of this academic work the creation of foundations to the future elaboration of the missing plan. The diagnosis and risk evaluation are preceded by the description of the surrounding space, the characterization of the building and the characterization of the percentage of the collections kept in the storage areas. The analysis of the ten agents of deterioration (physical forces, fire, water, criminal actions, pests, light and ultraviolet radiation, incorrect temperature, incorrect relative humidity and dissociation) allowed to identify the type of risks that endanger the collections and the damaged resulting from them. The results obtained through this evaluation permitted to create a set of suggestions in the preventive conservation area to improve the condition of storage of the collections in the storage areas.
