O presente trabalho de projeto tem como objetivo aplicar os conhecimentos e competências adquiridos durante o Mestrado em Tradução, na Área de Especialização de Inglês, à satisfação de um fim social. Através de uma proposta de tradução comentada de cinco capítulos da obra TRANS: Exploring Gender Identity and Gender Dysphoria (2018) de Az Hakeem, visa-se estudar a tradução de conteúdo LGBTI para o português europeu, tópico este ainda não muito abordado em Portugal. Devido ao conteúdo do texto, apontam-se as especificidades da tradução técnico-científica. Ademais, e de modo a enquadrar as dinâmicas deste trabalho de projeto, apresenta-se uma panorâmica da realidade LGBTI em Portugal e no mundo, para que seja possível compreender melhor a importância da tradução de conteúdo referente à mesma.
The goal of this Project is to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the Masters in Translation (English - Portuguese) to the fulfilment of a social purpose. Through a commented translation proposal of five chapters of the work TRANS: Exploring Gender Identity and Gender Dysphoria (2018) by Az Hakeem, the aim is to study a translation of LGBTI content into European Portuguese, a topic that is still not much discussed in Portugal. Due to the subject matter of the text, the focus is on the specificities of scientific and technical translation. Furthermore, an overview of the LGBTI reality in Portugal and across the world is presented in order to frame the dynamics of this project and enable a better understanding of the importance of translating this type of content.
