The study of "Terra Morta", written by Castro Soromenho, is the main purpose of this essay. The novel depicts the consequences of Portuguese colonization in the author's critical perspective; he is the first neorealist novelist and one of the major figures of Angolan novel writing. On one hand, we will present the personal and intellectual writer's trajectory, integrated in African historic and cultural contexts. He exposes the exploitation of man by man in a society that assigns a subordinate role to black people. We will analyze how this fact is shown in the narrative, namely the way how history progresses, the time and space, the way how people are presented and typified in terms of interaction with the physical and the social spaces. Everything occurs in Camaxilo, Angola's nord-east, where pain and violence exerted by white man on Angolan black men and women, who are submitted to the white man at many levels, such as social, economic, political and sexual. This way, it becomes possible to draw on the fragmentation and destruction of this people’s identity, as Portuguese colonization victims.
