Bairro Alto is a night commercial center in the city of Lisbon with extensive experimentation and cultural practices. Among cheap beer, multilingual conversations and different places to visit, fashion has also proved to be a relevant element to be observed. As it is an environment widely frequented by young people in their night time, clothing in Bairro Alto has its own expressions in view of the many neo-tribes that coexist in the place and their cultural practices that value the ambience of the street. For this reason, the clothing represented on its sidewalks would be what the fashion media call “street style”, that is, styles that are distinctives among the urban space. Thus, this dissertation consists of a case study in order to analyze the representation of fashion-clothing in Bairro Alto, how it manifests itself, what are its nuances, meanings and how it relates to the phenomenon of street style. The analysis was carried out by means of a photographic series held on the streets of Bairro Alto and bibliographic consultation of authors such as Barthes, Goffman, Lipovetsky, Simmel, Polhemus and Le Breton.
