O Ensino de Português como Língua Segunda e Estrangeira na Coreia do Sul

Apesar de, devido à sua relevância como a quinta língua mais falada do mundo,
a língua portuguesa ter uma forte tendência a expandir-se não só no ocidente, como
também na Ásia, existem ainda alguns desafios ao processo de ensino-aprendizagem,
principalmente fora dos países de língua oficial portuguesa.
Alguns dos problemas encontrados e apontados pelos alunos sul coreanos
incluem: falta de materiais didáticos de qualidade; a dependência das novas tecnologias;
a importância da educação cultural, que muitas vezes não é levada em consideração;
distribuição desigual do foco da aprendizagem entre escrita, gramática, compreensão
oral e conversação; e, por fim, mas não menos importante, a ansiedade dos aprendentes
durante e após a aprendizagem, quando são colocados em situações onde precisam
comunicar através da língua portuguesa.
Neste trabalho de dissertação aborda-se a atual situação do ensino e
aprendizagem da língua portuguesa na Coreia do Sul, nomeadamente no pólo
universitário de Seul da Universidade Hankuk de Estudos Estrangeiros1, que é uma das
três universidades onde a língua portuguesa é oficialmente ensinada. Abordando desde
os métodos de ensino utilizados até a visão que os alunos possuem sobre a
aprendizagem da língua na universidade, o objetivo principal é sugerir e criar métodos e
materiais que estimulem o interesse dos aprendentes não só pela língua portuguesa
europeia, como também pela cultura portuguesa, fazendo, assim, uma contribuição na
área do Ensino de Português como Língua Segunda e Estrangeira
Thanks to its relevance as the fifth most spoken language in the world, the Portuguese language has a strong tendency to expand not only in the West, but also in Asia. However, there are still some challenges regarding the teaching and learning process of Portuguese, especially when it’s being taught and learnt outside of Portuguese-speaking countries. Some of the challenges encountered and pointed out by South Korean students include: lack of quality teaching materials; dependence on the new technologies; the importance of cultural education, which is often neglected; uneven distribution of learning focus among the main subjects: writing, grammar, listening and speaking; and last but not least, learners’ anxiety during and after the learning process, when they face situations where they need to communicate through the Portuguese language. In this work I will address the current situation of teaching and learning the Portuguese language in South Korea, namely at the Seoul University Hub of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, which is one of the three universities where Portuguese language is officially taught. From addressing the teaching methods used to the students’ view of their Portuguese language learning process, our main goal is to suggest and create methods and materials that stimulate learners’ interest not only in European Portuguese, but also in Portuguese culture, thus making a contribution in the area of Teaching Portuguese as a Second and Foreign Language.
