O presente trabalho descreve o aparecimento dos programas de memórias de tradução e
a forma como este tipo de tradução assistida por computador se relaciona com a
tradução automática. São indicadas as funções das ferramentas iniciais e referidos quais
os utilizadores dos primeiros programas. Após a listagem e descrição dos programas de
memórias de tradução identificados, a conclusão aponta as tendências de evolução deste
tipo de software.
The present work describes the appearing of the translation memory programs and the way this type of computer assisted translation relates with machine translation. The features of the first tools are mentioned as well as the users of such tools. After listing and describing the translation memory programs, the conclusion identifies the trends in the evolution of translation memory software.
