Prior performance as driver of entrepreneurial passion

Abstract

The entrepreneurial passion has been intensively studied as a driver of other aspects of entrepreneurship. However, research about the drivers of entrepreneurial passionremainsunexplored. We propose that the prior venture performanceis positively associated with entrepreneurialpassion. Moreover, we argue that this relationship is moderated by psychological flexibility. We used a sample of 171 Portuguese start-ups to test the effect of employment growth (between 2014 and 2018) in entrepreneurial passion(2019), and the moderating role ofpsychological flexibility. Our findings indicate that the relationship between employment growth and harmonious passion is moderated by the psychological flexibility.
