O trabalho de projecto de mestrado visa à realização de um documentário, que tem vindo a ser produzido nos últimos três anos, sobre o músico português João Ribas. O documentário sobre o músico João Ribas pretende ser um retrato desta personagem icónica e idolatrada da música. João Ribas esteve na origem de várias bandas importantes do punk nacional, como os Ku de Judas, os Censurados e os Tara Perdida. Influenciou um sem-número de bandas, músicos e pessoas no geral, e este filme pretende acompanhar a sua vida e todo o seu percurso musical, cruzando com o início do movimento punk em Portugal, e mostrar a sua importância e a influência que teve no panorama musical geral e no movimento punk português.
Para a realização deste documentário, contei com a importante participação de vários entendidos na matéria, além de familiares, amigos, músicos e radialistas para nos contextualizarem sobre o tema. O documentário pretende também, ao produzir conhecimento sobre o objecto, permitir às gerações mais novas conhecer quem foi João Ribas e aquilo que ele fez pela música nacional.
O projecto tem duas componentes, uma prática, que será uma parte final da produção e toda a pós-produção do documentário, e uma parte escrita, onde serão analisados os objectivos do projecto, o seu processo de pesquisa e também a contextualização do género do documentário desde os seus primórdios. E por fim, também tentará perceber sob de que forma o documentário pode ter este poder de memória e de homenagem sobre o outro.
The final work of my Masters degree concerns the realization of a documentary, on which I’ve been working for the past three years, about the portuguese musician João Ribas. This documentary about the musician João Ribas contemplates a portrait of this iconic and idolized character of the portuguese music scene. João Ribas was responsible for the creation of various and important portuguese punk bands, like Ku de Judas, Censurados and Tara Perdida. He influenced many bands, musicians and many other different people and this movie will try to follow his life and all his musical career, crossing those with the beginning of punk in Portugal and showing his importance and influence in the national music scene and portuguese punk movement. For this feature I could count on the important contribution of various knowledgeable people, family members, friends, musicians and radio personalities to help to contextualize the matter. This documentary also aims to make known to the younger generations who was João Ribas and what he has done for to the national music. This project will have two components: a practical one, which will be the final part of production and all of the post-production of the documentary; and a written one which will describe the goals of the project, its research process and also the historical contextualization of the documentar from its beginnings. And finally, also understand on which ways this documentary can have the power of homage and honour the memory of other.
