| dc.description.abstract | This paper consists on the report of the 5-month internship taken at the Portuguese Permanent Mission at the United Nations. To this effect I describe the plan, goals and tasks handled during the internship, focusing on the follow-up of the organization’s electoral and legislative process and on the working agenda of the Fourth Committee and the Security Council. This paper also includes the research on a theme, the multilateral resolution of conflicts, chosen due to personal interest, political, diplomatic and legal relevance, actuality and inclusion on the agenda of the meetings assisted during the internship. In this part, I’ll enunciate the legal context and the methods used for the resolution of disputes in the United Nations, preventive diplomacy, the intervention of the main organs of the organization, the regional component and the work of the International Court of Justice. Finally, I’ll allude and densify the case of the Middle East, by explaining some of the motives that cause the spread of conflicts in the region and analyzing the case of Israel and Palestine and the Syrian crisis, through the UN intervention on those conflicts. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Este trabalho consiste no relato do estágio de 5 meses realizado na Missão Permanente de Portugal junto das Nações Unidas. Para esse efeito é feita a descrição do plano, objetivos e tarefas realizadas no decorrer do estágio, com enfoque no acompanhamento do processo legislativo e eleitoral dentro da Organização e nos trabalhos da 4ª Comissão da AGNU e do Conselho de Segurança. Segue-se o capítulo de investigação, que se centra no tema da resolução multilateral de conflitos, escolhida por motivos de interesse pessoal, relevância política, diplomática e jurídica, atualidade e inserção no trabalho acompanhado no decorrer do estágio. Nesta parte é enunciado o contexto normativo do tema e são referidos os mecanismos utilizados para a resolução de conflitos no seio das NU, a diplomacia preventiva, a atuação dos principais órgãos da Organização, a intervenção regional e o trabalho do Tribunal Internacional de Justiça. Ainda na questão em investigação, é mencionado e densificado o caso do Médio Oriente, explanando-se alguns dos motivos inerentes à disseminação de conflitos na região e analisando-se o caso israelo-palestiniano e sírio, mediante a intervenção das Nações Unidas nesses conflitos. | pt_PT |
