The following report presents a description of the activities carried out during the internship at EAPN (European Anti-Poverty Network), a non-governmental organization oriented towards the promotion of social justice and the eradication of poverty, developed within the framework of the second year of the master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations at FCSH. Throughout this report, a critical analysis of the theoretical approaches of cosmopolitanism and communitarianism will be conducted, exploring how these perspectives influence the practices and policies of EAPN Portugal in promoting Human Rights and reducing Social Inequalities. The report also aims to study the impact of Globalization and sociocultural dynamics in both the international and Portuguese contexts, assessing the challenges and opportunities that arise from the debates and conflicts between the universality of rights and cultural particularities in the context of social work in Portugal. This analysis seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of how EAPN Portugal can integrate these conceptual approaches into its strategies, adapting to sociopolitical changes and new social demands, while ensuring the continued effectiveness of its interventions. By engaging in the moral debate on Global Justice, this reflection aims to understand how to respond to the ethical challenges posed by growing global interdependence, power asymmetries, and tensions between Universal Rights and cultural specificities. The analysis also addresses the impact of the sociocultural and political dynamics of Globalization, both at the international level and within the Portuguese context, with the aim of evaluating how these transformations affect populations. This study is part of a broader reflection on the role of civil society organizations in promoting global citizenship, equity, and social justice in a world marked by deep structural inequalities.
