This study takes as stepping stone the Social Capital Theory of Bourdieu, the influence of social capital to the export of Portuguese football coaches and players was analyzed, as well as the perceived impacts of these exports to Portugal and to their own careers. This work follows a sequential mixed-methods approach, for which 12 semi-structure interviews were conducted and 43 responses were obtained from an online questionnaire. It is concluded that social capital positively influences the opportunity of playing and coaching abroad, having an impact on the careers of players and coaches.
