Resumo(s)
This work project studies whether or not the Portuguese Utilities are implementing a centralized procurement program and to what extent centralizing efforts are producing real advantages. To do so, Portugal Telecom case was analysed and several interviews were undertaken in the major Portuguese Utilities, concluding that although the degree of effort and commitment differs, all of these companies are in fact centralizing their purchases and consequently restructuring their supply chain. Nevertheless, this type of process always generates some resistance, but if done correctly, it can turn a costly and heavy structure into a profitable and dynamic one.
