A evolução vertiginosa das tecnologias de informação tem possibilitado às organizações melhorar as suas
capacidades de funcionamento, tornando os seus processos mais ágeis, mais eficazes e mais eficientes. A
informatização de praticamente todos os processos das organizações possibilita a existência de um
manancial de dados que, além da parte operacional, poderão servir à ajuda nas tomadas de decisão da
gestão intermédia e de topo. No entanto, os dados nem sempre se encontram disponíveis num formato
compreensível aos gestores pelo que existe a necessidade de os transformar em informação útil.
Nos últimos 20 anos muitas das grandes organizações procuraram perceber como tirar partido dos seus
dados operacionais desenvolvendo projetos de Business Intelligence, recorrendo às mais modernas
ferramentas de BI e a recursos de IT especializados no tratamento de dados.
O projeto a que este relatório diz respeito decorreu no COMPETE2020, entidade pública responsável pela
gestão fundos afetos ao desenvolvimento da competitividade das empresas nacionais. O projeto teve
como âmbito a definição de um modelo de dados que servirá de suporte à futura solução de BI da
organização, bem como a identificação e análise de potenciais ferramentas de BI para implementação da
solução.
A futura ferramenta de BI tem como objetivo servir a gestão de topo e intermédia, nas decisões que
permitam melhorar a sua capacidade de gestão da utilização dos fundos atuais e futuros para
financiamento às empresas.
Como resultado final da solução de BI, passará a organização a ter disponível um conjunto de indicadores,
inexistentes atualmente ou que exigem um trabalho manual repetitivo que não permite a disponibilização
da informação em tempo útil pretendido.
The vertiginous evolution of information technology has enabled organizations to improve their operational capabilities, making their processes more agile, more effective and more efficient. The computerization of almost all organizational processes enables the existence of data that, in addition to the operational part, can help in the decision-making process of middle and top management. However, the data is not always available in a format that managers can understand, so there is a need to transform it into useful information. In the last 20 years, many large organizations have tried to understand how to take advantage of their operational data by developing Business Intelligence projects, using the most modern BI tools and IT resources specialized in data processing. The project to which this report refers took place in COMPETE2020, a public entity responsible for managing funds allocated to the development of the competitiveness of national companies. The project's scope was the definition of a data model that will support the future BI solution of the organization, as well as the identification and analysis of potential BI tools to implement the solution. The future BI tool aims to serve top and middle management in the decisions that will improve their ability to manage the use of current and future funds for business financing. As a final result of the BI solution, the organization will have available a set of indicators, that do not currently exist or that require repetitive manual work that does not allow the provision of information in the desired timely manner.
