| dc.description.abstract | Com esta dissertação pretende-se dar um contributo para a descrição da construção da categoria aspecto em suau, através do estudo de ocorrências dos sufixos {-o}, {-e} e do prefixo {e-}, identificando os valores aspectuais que estas formas, em interação com as demais formas que coocorrem nos enunciados, assinalam. A língua suau, que não está descrita de forma sistemática em estudos e cuja ortografia ainda não está estabelecida, é falada em Papua Nova Guiné e pertence a família austronésia, mais especificamente ao subgrupo das línguas oceânicas. Possui uma marcação de aspecto mais relevante que a de tempo, embora estas duas categorias sejam interdependentes. Considerando a complexidade da categoria gramatical aspecto, que não é construída isoladamente mas em inter-relação com outras formas e elementos extralinguísticos, recorremos a um corpus de cerca de 300 versículos bíblicos na língua Suau, o que, em confronto com outras traduções (portuguesa e inglesa) e aferida a boa formação junto de informantes, nos proporciona o contexto necessário para a nossa análise. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | As a contribution to the description of the category of aspect in a minority language of Papua New Guinea, this thesis describes the occurrences of the suffix markers {-o}, {-e} and the prefix marker {e-} of the Suau language. It also identifies their aspectual values in interaction with other linguistic forms that co-occur with them. There is no grammatical systematic description of the Suau language and its orthography has not been established yet. The Suau language belongs to the Austronesian languages, more specifically to the Oceanic branch of that family. Aspect is more relevant than tense in the Suau language, although both categories are interdependent. Considering the complexity of the aspect category, which is not formed in isolation but interacts with other forms, as well as extralinguistic elements, we resorted to a corpus of approximately 300 Bible verses in the Suau language that in comparison with other translations (Portuguese and English) gives us the necessary context for our analysis.
