In response to the twin challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change, governments and their community and civil society partners have escalated efforts to safeguard and improve the sustainable use of nature. These initiatives have been selected as critical to meeting the worldwide target of saving 30% of the earth by 2030. Additional protected areas, more effective management, and other effective area-based conservation measures will be required to achieve this aim. However, financing is insufficient to meet current demands or grow protected areas1. Given the inability and difficulty of conservation initiatives to collect sufficient funds to improve the situation, a group of students from Nova SBE University's Master's program in Impact Entrepreneurship & Innovation decided to pursue a project that could innovatively address this problem. Out of this initiative came Fakezoo, a blockchain-based fundraising project focused on wildlife conservation. Valerio Maria Barone carried out this thesis in the role of the project leader, and Juan Alexander Stockermans in the role of chief partnership officer. The writing of this paper was divided into two parts: the first, which discusses the first cycle of business development, start from the beginning of the creation of the project that started in January 2022 until the end of the first academic year, i.e., May of the same year. This part was written by Juan, as he was the key player in all our early contacts with various stakeholders interested in our business, such as non-profit animal conservation organizations. These conversations and contacts allowed us to collect additional feedback and new input that led to the shift and pivot of the project to a second business plan. With this shift, we then move to the second development cycle, written this time by Valerio. He was responsible for leading the group during the summer of 2022 and the first months of the second academic year in search of funding and collaborating partners to develop the project to the fullest. This division was designed following the natural and different characteristics and skills that make up the team, which have been present since the beginning of the project but have further developed over time.pt_PT
