Resumo(s)
In 1977 the term securitization first appeared in the Wall Street Journal,
“invented” by Lewis S. Ranieri [1] to describe the first mortgage pass-through security
and faced much scepticism from both editors and publishers, since it was not considered
a real word. This was thirty years ago...nowadays besides being a word, it is also one of
the most developed and used securities. Being so, securitization, and mortgage
derivatives as a whole represent a major potential, but can also represent a big risk for
economy and for society. These potential negative impacts are being observed
throughout the world since the last year, for example, with the “subprime crisis”, and it
is important to analyse them.
