| dc.description.abstract | Motivated by current events, this qualitative study offers a scientific perspective on the security and business consequences of Chinese direct investments in European networked assets, focusing on port terminals. Based on interviews, the study identifies three dimensions in which FDI in port terminals can impact national security. Economic Disruption is the most urgent one to be addressed. Further, the interviews reveal that adjustments to the screening regulation, such as harmonization and clear procedures, would benefit businesses by improving planning security and fairness. To address those pain points, the study suggests seven recommendations for European policymakers to improve FDI screening. | pt_PT |
