This thesis examines how digital traceability systems establish the data foundations required for emissions transparency and how industrial AI then leverages those foundations to improve efficiency and reduce carbon in manufacturing. Focusing on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, it analyses key regulatory drivers - particularly EU and US climate‐disclosure frameworks - and their strategic implications for industrial firms. Drawing on secondary data and the aerospace sector as a case example, the study demonstrates how traceability infrastructures paired with AI analytics enable compliance, enhance operational performance, and pave the way toward data driven sustainability.
