This Report consists of two parts. The first one aims to describe a curricular internship carried out at the the Superior Body of Electoral Administration in Portugal, the National Elections Comission (CNE). This first part includes the presentation of the host entity, a description of the way it operates, as well as the activities developed during the internship. The second part includes a research component, centered around the female under-representation in the portuguese parliamentary elites in the democratic Portugal. More than just a description of the evolution of this problematic, its explanatory factors and possible mechanisms used in order to promote greater gender parity in politics, this research analyses how the defense of women’s interessests in the portuguese parliamentary arena has evolved. Thus, we sought to understand whether the increase in female representation in portuguese parliamentary politics has been accompanied by a more pronounced debate, in the National Parliament, around women’s rights.
