A extensão universitária é um dos principais pilares da universidade brasileira, e podemos arriscar dizer que ela é a comunicação que se estabelece entre universidade e a sociedade. Sendo um elemento que está diretamente ligado à sociedade que cerca a universidade, a extensão perpassa os muros que separam as instituições de ensino superior públicas, das suas comunidades e por meio de ações estabelece o contato, com aquela que, no Brasil, a sustenta por meio dos impostos e recursos que são destinados ao seu funcionamento.
Falar das extensão universitária no Brasil, perpassando pelos aspectos históricos e chegando à pratica da comunicação pública na universidade é um dos objetivos desse trabalho que terá como foco o Programa Amigo do Carroceiro, um programa de extensão realizado pelo Centro de Ciências Agroveterinárias (CAV) da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (Udesc), um dos 12 centros da instituição, que tem sua sede, a reitoria, na capital do Estado, Florianópolis. Bem conhecido como CAV, o centro também intitulado Udesc Lages, já que fica na cidade de Lages, município da Serra Catarinense.
Trabalhar os aspectos da mídia local da cidade, baseando-se nas publicações do Jornal Correio Lageano, o principal veículo de comunicação da cidade (impresso e digital), mais antigo e ainda o de maior circulação, relacionados ao programa de extensão objeto desse estudo, é o objetivo principal dessa dissertação, que quer analisar a forma de como a Udesc se comunica e como são emitidas as informações sobre o assunto e enfim, sobre a extensão, neste centro de ensino.
Também abordaremos a questão da comunicação na Udesc, para que possamos nos embasar e, também verificar qual o tratamento dado pela própria instituição às ações de extensão universitárias.
University extension is one of the main pillars of the Brazilian university, and we can risk saying that it is the communication that is established between university and society. Being an element that is directly linked to the society that surrounds the university, the extension goes through the walls that separate the public higher education institutions from their communities and through actions establishes the contact with the one that, in Brazil, sustains it by taxes and resources that are intended for its operation. Talking about university extension in Brazil, going through the historical aspects and reaching the practice of public communication at the university is one of the objectives of this work that will focus on the Amigo do Carroceiro Program, an extension program conducted by the Center for Agricultural Sciences (CAV) of Santa Catarina State University (Udesc), one of the 12 centers of the institution, which has its headquarters, the rectory, in the state capital, Florianópolis. Well known as CAV, the center is also called Udesc Lages, as it is in the city of Lages, municipality of Serra Catarinense. Working on the local media aspects of the city, based on the publications of Jornal Correio Lageano, the city's oldest and most widely circulated newspaper (print and digital), related to the extension program object of this study, It is the main objective of this dissertation, which wants to analyze the way Udesc communicates and how the information about the subject is emitted and, finally, about the extension in this teaching center. We will also address the issue of communication at Udesc, so that we can base ourselves and also check what is the institution's own treatment of university extension actions.
