Resumo(s)
Scientists and practitioners recognize the great potential of startups, especially ones that are hardware-based to drive innovation and contribute to developing climate solutions. Their contribution is crucial for addressing the challenges posed by global warming. However, the
hardware-climate-tech sector experiences severe challenges related to funding. This study analyzes the German startup ecosystem by conducting expert interviews, a follow-up survey, reviewing related literature, and performing a quantitative analysis based on calculations. The study (1) confirms the existence of a funding gap in Germany, (2) identifies a complex web of factors contributing across various stages of the startup's life cycle and (3) proposes potential solutions to overcome this gap. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers,
researchers, investors, and entrepreneurs.
