This study investigates intercultural challenges and mitigation strategies for German en-trepreneurs and intrapreneurs entering the Chinese market. Drawing on 30 semi-structured ex-pert interviews, the research combines Gioia’s qualitative methodology with the Cultural Intel-ligence (CQ) framework and GLOBE cultural dimensions to map interpersonal and work-re-lated hurdles. Key obstacles include language barriers, indirect communication, hierarchical decision-making, and fluid contractual expectations. Successful respondents cultivate guanxi, protect miànzi, adapt feedback styles, and maintain operational flexibility, mobilizing high met-acognitive, motivational, and behavioral CQ. Findings enrich cross-cultural theory and offer actionable guidance for practitioners, educators, and policymakers aiming to foster competent, resilient German ventures in China.pt_PT
