Resumo(s)

Cyberpunk, a portmanteau word of "cyber" (denoting networks) and "punk," emerged as a new science fiction genre and swiftly evolved into a significant cultural phenomenon. In its subsequent evolution, cyberpunk transcended literary boundaries to permeate diverse artistic fields including film, animation, comics, design, and music. Postmodern aesthetics is defined by its celebration of plurality, subversion, and rebellion against the tenets of modernism and traditional aesthetics. It dismantles the rationality and order established by these movements, seeking entirely new artistic practices. The emergence of cyberpunk art responds to the information network era while embodying various traits of postmodern aesthetics. It functions as a critical metaphor for reality and a profound reflection on contemporary societal issues. Therefore, a comparative study of cyberpunk art and postmodern aesthetics—examining their historical context, expressive techniques, and spiritual essence—proves both feasible and significant. This paper adopts an interdisciplinary approach, utilizing image analysis, literary research, and comparative analysis to investigate the postmodern aesthetic characteristics of cyberpunk art. The study is structured into four main chapters: Chapter 1 establishes the theoretical foundation by exploring the relationship between cyberpunk art and postmodern aesthetics; Chapter 2 explores the manifestation of postmodern aesthetics in cyberpunk art; Chapter 3 examines cyberpunk art in comparison with pop art within a postmodern context; and Chapter 4 discusses the artistic implications of cyberpunk and its conceptual constructs through the lens of postmodern aesthetics. Subsequently, from an aesthetic standpoint, it proposes shared reflections and constructions between cyberpunk art and postmodern aesthetics: art must resist the erosion of nihilism and seek spiritual refuge for humanity. Finally, the conclusion section synthesizes the entire argument while posing the question of whether cyberpunk can be classified as a postmodern art movement, offering reflections and interpretations.
