Resumo(s)
We use spatial analysis to identify exposure and resilience of German administrative districts
to carbon transition. Regional shares of employment in five energy-intensive industries and
the automotive sector are calculated as a measure of exposure. A set of demographic and socio-economic indicators measure the resilience of these administrative districts. Our results
show that exposure is concentrated in a few regions. Resilience differs significantly regionally; interestingly, regions with particular industries show remarkably different resilience prospects. We provide granular data to policymakers aiming to sustainably drive carbon transition, highlighting the need for targeted region- and industry-specific policy measures, supporting communities nationwide.
