Este relatório resulta da experiência de estágio curricular realizada no canal televisivo News Now, da Medialivre, no âmbito do mestrado em Ciências da Comunicação. A investigação centra-se na cobertura de notícias internacionais, com base na observação direta das rotinas jornalísticas e dos constrangimentos editoriais identificados ao longo do estágio. Através de uma metodologia mista, que combina análise de conteúdo e entrevista semiestruturada, pretende-se compreender de que forma são selecionadas, tratadas e enquadradas as temáticas internacionais num canal informativo português. O estudo procura ainda refletir sobre os fatores que influenciam estas escolhas editoriais, como o papel das agências noticiosas, as limitações de tempo e recursos, bem como os formatos e estratégias utilizados na apresentação deste tipo de conteúdos.
This report results from a curricular internship at the television channel News Now, part of Medialivre, within the Master’s in Communication Sciences. The research focuses on the coverage of international news, grounded in the direct observation of newsroom routines and editorial constraints encountered during the internship. Using a mixed-methods approach, combining content analysis and a semi-structured interview, the study aims to understand how international topics are selected, framed, and presented in a Portuguese news channel. It also seeks to reflect on the factors influencing editorial decisions, such as the role of news agencies, time and resource limitations, and the formats and strategies used in the presentation of such content.
