This report presents the work developed within the scope of the curricular internship carried out at the BMJM, between September 2024 and March 2025, as part of the second year of the non-teaching component of the master’s degree in Museology at NOVA FCSH. The main activity consisted in the identification and cataloguing of the bibliographic collection of the BMJM, aiming to tackle the lack of a systematic, up-to-date, and digitized organizational system that would render the collection accessible and functional. The internship focused on the implementation of a cataloguing methodology based on the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) system, preceded by an exhaustive survey of the library physical, documentary, and functional library conditions. The activities developed included the identification, organization, and bibliographic description of approximately 4,000 volumes, as well as the proposal for measures for the safeguarding of items in poor conservation condition. The tasks carried out aimed to enhance the BMJM as a tool for research, education, and cultural mediation. Grounded in the principles of contemporary museology, this work sought to contribute to the preservation of bibliographic heritage and the democratization of access to knowledge, projecting the library as a space of memory, knowledge, and reinforcement of institutional mission.
