| dc.description.abstract | This paper explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), circular economy (CE) and product design. Emphasizing AI’s transformative role in circular product design (CPD), the research identifies key AI applications – pattern recognition, prediction, and generative modeling – across design phases. Through in-depth case studies and expert interviews, a comprehensive framework is developed, illustrating AI’s impact on product integrity, measured in longevity, extended use, and recovery. The study contributes theoretical insights by bridging CE, CPD, and AI literature, offering a nuanced understanding of industry-specific variations. Practical implications stress the necessity to enhance designers’ and managers’ AI capabilities for streamlined, sustainable product development. | pt_PT |
