Resumo(s)
Private Equity has become, during the last decades, a widespread alternative to the traditional capital markets, both as investment vehicle for institutional investors and wealthy individuals, and as equity provider to companies which are not publicly listed on stock exchanges.
This paper aims to provide a clearer comprehension of how Private Equity funds are organised and a general overview of the existing literature on the topic. By putting together different background information sources, it is intended to help understand the rationale behind such massive allocation of capital to Private Equity funds and how they will have to adjust in order to survive in this industry.
