Resumo(s)
Organizations are subject to a variety of constantly changing internal and external influences such as, organizational strategy and environmental conditions. In addition, of particular importance are the increasing global competition and development of Information Technology (IT). In response to these factors, the competing values approach to Organizational Effectiveness (OE) may be preferable because it acknowledges different areas of focus (internal, external) and structure (flexibility, stability) and allows for managers to select one of these values to focus their attention on.
The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the OE in the Portuguese context. The results suggest the need to distinguish and specify the model by sector and industry, as well as funding new and better ways to measure OE criteria, through partnerships between scholars’ theories and IT.
