| dc.description.abstract | Air pollution negatively impacts humans and the environment, but exposure to pollution is not uniformly distributed. Revealing the existence of inequalities is a necessary first step to eliminate structural injustices. Through detailed mapping and correlation assessments, this thesis investigates the spatial patterns of air pollution and socioeconomic factors across Portugal. It reveals a complex relationship between pollution exposure and vulnerabilities, particularly in urban areas with high disparities. The study underscores the need for context specific policies that address pollution sources while factoring in the socioeconomic makeup of communities, suggesting integrated strategies for equitable environmental and climate action. | pt_PT |
