"In the past decades, safe and effective artificial oxygen carriers (AOC), also named as “blood substitutes”, have been proposed and extensively studied in chemistry and medical science. The constant necessity of donor blood is crucial for diverse medical situations, such as accidents and casualties which result in acute blood loss and the need to restore oxygen transport to the tissues.
