Abstract

A investigação sobre as diversas formas da memória da profissão, definidas como parte integrante da construção da identidade profissional, e as implicações que decorrem da sua ausência constituem o tema deste artigo. Esta área de investigação está associada à história das bibliotecas e dos arquivos enquanto instituições e acompanha a necessidade de se conhecer a história intelectual do campo profissional, a história da profissão e a história dos seus profissionais e carreiras. Enfatiza-se a necessidade da criação de um Dicionário da Profissão e enumeram-se diversas áreas do espaço biográfico dos profissionais I-D cuja investigação se encontra por fazer, dando especial realce a duas áreas pouco discutidas e praticadas em Portugal: o registo autobiográfico e o papel dos obituários. Research on the various forms of the memory of the profession, defined as an integral part of the construction of professional identity, and the implications of its absence are the subject of this article. This area of research is associated with the history of libraries and archives as institutions, accompanying the need to know the intellectual history of the professional field, the history of the profession and the history of its professionals and careers. Emphasis is given to the need for the creation of a Dictionary of Profession and several areas of the biographical space of ID professionals whose research is to be done are highlighted, giving special emphasis to two areas that are poorly discussed and practiced in Portugal: autobiographical records and the role of the obituaries.
