The purpose of this Internship Report is to understand the lives and careers of the Judiciary Police investigators before and after Estado Novo, through interviews recorded in the context of the "Oral History Project" of the Judiciary Police Museum. The birth of the criminal investigation in Portugal will be contextualized, as will the path traveled since the 19th century until we reach contemporaneity and the formation of the Judiciary Police. Taking into account that the Estado Novo has a preponderant role in the theoretical dimension of this work, it will also be contextualized the history of the political police, including the International and State Defense Police that has here an important relevance, until we arrive at its final designation, the General Directorate of Security, and the relations that the criminal investigation police had with the political police. Adding to these themes, the perspective of the judicial organization and the relationship between the Judiciary Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office will also be addressed.
