- Development of an in vitro reconstructed 3D human melanoma skin model for assays with peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC)Publication . Marinho Leite, Mafalda; Oliva, Abel; Pojo, Marta"Cutaneous melanoma (CM) is the least common but deadliest type of skin cancer. Despite advances in its treatment, there is a high percentage of patients who do not respond to treatments or develop secondary resistances. In this context, the development of in vitro models of CM that enable the study of its aggressiveness mechanisms has been an emerging theme. This project had as main objective to develop a human 3D model of MC, using commercially availabre melanoma cell lines: A375, G361, SK-MEL-1. For the construction of this model, a porous polymeric scaffold was used, where fibroblasts were seeded, producing extracellular matrix, constituting the dermis equivalent. The epidermis was reconstructed with melanocytes and keratinocytes. Melanoma cells were added individually or as aggregates.(...)"
